
日本开发出高强度新型复合材料
新华社东京电(记者钱铮)日本科研人员日前开发出一种由天然纤维和生物可降解塑料制成的复合材料,新材料的强度是玻璃纤维强化塑料的1.5倍,今后有望代替后者应用于汽车和飞机上。
据《日经产业新闻》23日报道,这种新复合材料由山口大学教授合田公一等人开发,原料是生产衣服用的天然苎 麻纤维和以玉米为原料生产的生物可降解塑料。制作过程是,首先使用高浓度碱性溶液浸泡苎麻,接着把苎麻和生物可降解塑料按6比4的比例混合加压并逐渐加热,从而制成复合材料。
科研人员使用2毫米厚的薄膜状新材料进行耐冲击测试,结果表明新材料能耐受高达13.4焦耳的冲击能量。而如果不经过特殊处理,用苎麻纤维和生物可降解塑料简单混合制成的材料只能耐受最高6.3焦耳的冲击能量。综合测试显示,新材料的强度是玻璃纤维强化塑料的1.5倍。
